Description

An old-ish commission by :iconjedi-art-trick:. This is my original Jedi, Kenyon Rae, who'd actually had his roots in previous monikers such as Duron Voltros and Ihe-Du Inora. I actually have a bit of history with creating Star Wars fan characters, but no one dates as far back as this guy, who'd begun as Ihe-Du Inora way back when Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was dominating headlines. The name Ihe-Du Inora actually came from one of those Jedi Name Generators where you had to rearrange the letters of your First, Last, Mother's Maiden name and Place of Birth to create something Star Warsy in a vein similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi or Qui-Gon Jinn. Duron Voltros was actually something I came up with one odd day, and because it sounded nice and rolled off the tongue, I started using that instead. Kenyon Rae came about the same way, and because it carried more of a punch, had more weight, is what it is now. I'm very transitional when it comes to these things.

His most recent incarnation as Duron Voltros was in the wake of the announcement of Star Wars: The Old Republic. I'd had a massive biography for him and everything, hyped for him to be apart of this new experience. But as soon as I saw what the game would eventually turn into, I kinda pulled out and started searching for other time periods of Star Wars history for him to reside in. From there, I decided to take and rearrange all my story assets and plug them into the era of the New Sith Wars, seeing as it was (and still is) relatively uncharted territory. But, with the whole decision regarding the Expanded Universe*, I naturally had to make do.

*That is to say, I completely endorse the decision to create a new canon from the endless palette that was the EU. It had become a knotted mess in its nearly thirty years or existence, as it had before the Prequels. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Too much repetition of history. Taking too many dives into making Star Wars grimdark. Now that the EU has created the foundation for a much larger world to play in, I can only hope we'll keep to a more coherent chain of events with the direction of the Lucasfilm Story Group. While I will miss the stories and characters of old, I will always believe that it was an inevitable, but necessary decision.

-----------

So now, Kenyon, along with his Apprentice Mari-Nguyen Kaydana, is one of few survivors of Order 66 and the Jedi Purge, evading the grip of the Galactic Empire at every other turn in a not exactly too desperate bid to survive. Masterfully mellow and remarkably transient - to Mari's chagrin - Kenyon is in no hurry to go anywhere or do anything following the destruction of the Jedi Order, content to live his last days as he sees fit, traveling the galaxy in an effort to "understand" its feelings in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. Sooner or later however, the dangers of the life he so easily left behind will catch up to him.
